Golden Lotus is an internationally acclaimed musical based on the most infamous Chinese novel of all time, Jin Ping Mei. Its world premiere theatrical production, which received the Hong Kong English Drama Award for Best Original Work, was captured live and has won over 60 international film awards including Best Picture at the 2023 World Independent Cinema Awards in Edinburgh, Scotland. This achievement crowned Golden Lotus as the best film from Film Fest International’s 11 annual festivals across Europe.
The musical stars Harriet Chung, and is written and composed by George Chiang, both of whom performed in the Stratford Festival's world premiere of Salesman in China during the 2024 season.
